Information on the Pink iPod Nano

The Pink iPod Nano has become extremly popular since it made the market a few years ago. Since then Apple has persistently polished its technology and launched fresh versions of the Pink Nano iPods each year. Three unique generations of Pink Nanos are now available with lots of cool and useful features.

Second Generation - The first Pink Nano iPods

Pink iPod Nano Second GenerationThe first Pink Nano iPods were released on September 12, 2006, as Apple upgraded their Nano line to the second generation. They included new features like a brighter and more vibrant display screen (which is 40% brighter than that of its predecessor), a battery life upgrade (from 14 to 24 hours), and 4GB storage capacity. Please have a look at our selection of Pink iPod Nano 4GB. It's seamless anodized aluminum design did not only make the first Pink iPod Nano less scratch-prone than its predecessor, but also more durable in general. This generation also supports gapless playback of audio files, audio recordings with a microphone, and includes an upgraded search option. By making the packaging 32% lighter and reducing the volume by 52% from that of the first nano generation, Apple claimed it reduced the enviromental impact and shipping cost at the same time.

Third Generation Pink iPod Nano

A year later on September 5, 2007, Apple introduced the third generation of Nano iPods with new design and new features. However it was not before some months later (January 22, 2008) that Apple decided to also make this generation available in pink, and produce a Pink iPod Nano which had better and updated firmware than the originally released ones.

Pink iPod Nano Third GenerationIn the third generation, the Pink iPod Nano got a substantial redesign to accommodate games and video playback, with a wider, brighter screen and a shorter design. Matte, pink anodized aluminum graces the foreplate and polished stainless steel covers the back. The 2-inch screen packs a dense, crisp 320x240 video resolution which makes it incredibly sharp to look at.

Apple has also upgraded and overhauled the user interface of the Nano. The most notable improvement is the addition of the split-screen menu feature, which lists the menu items on the left, along with a visual preview of the menu selection on the right half of the display. This takes advantage of the Nano's wide display and makes good use of the white space to the right of the menu text.
A new browser ability, called Cover Flow, was introduced, with cool three-dimensional effects for visually locating files and digital media libraries via cover artwork.

The Pink iPod Nano 8GB storage capacity can hold approx. 2000 songs, or 7000 pictures, or 8 hours of video. The battery lasts for impressingly 25 hours of audio playback and over 5 hours of video display between each charge.

For added fun, the Pink iPod Nano features some new games. Onboard, you'll find Klondike Solitaire, Vortex, and iQuiz, and more are available from the iTunes Store.

Fourth Generation - The New Pink iPod Nano

Pink iPod Nano Fourth GenerationThe newest Pink iPod Nano was launched by Apple on September 9, 2008, as the fourth generation made its way to the market with new improvements. The new version is the thinnest iPod ever made by Apple, coming in a more attractive and colorful design. The Pink iPod Nano returns to its long, light, and slender formula, with a slightly curved design, giving it the rounded essence of an airplane wing. This gives it a more delicate look as well as a more comfortable grip, and better resilience against scratches.
The fourth generation of Pink Nano iPods have all the features from last year's version, in addition of a few new features that makes it more compelling than its predecessors.

A new component called an accelerometer has been added to the new Pink Nanos. It functions like a tilt-sensor that helps in changing display orientation, portrait or landscape mode, based on the way you are holding the iPod vertically or horizontally. In addition to this it can also be used to access Cover Flow when tilted sideways, and shuffle music by shaking the iPod vigorously. The new Pink iPod Nano is also more left hand friendly, since the orientation of the video playback ajusts to the direction you are turning it.

A new voice recording feature is included, which allow automatic recording when an Apple compatible microphone is plugged in to the headphone jack. Special headphones with in-line controls and voice recording microphones are now produced by Apple.

Another new feature that comes with the Pink iPod Nano is the Genius technology, which has the ability to automatically find similar songs to the ones you're currently listening to. In a way this is like having your own personal DJ who knows what you like, creating an instant 25-song playlist based around the musical characteristics of a single song. The Genius feature is easy to use, and the results are fun, provided your music collection holds enough songs to make interesting connections.

The performance of the fourth generation Pink iPod Nano, like speed and usability, is better than ever, even though the sound quality and battery life haven't increased. The 24 hour audio and 4 hour video playback capacity is still fair enough for the average user.

The fourth generation of Pink Nano iPods are marketed in two models, one with 8GB and another with 16GB storage capacity, making room for plenty of music. The Pink iPod Nano 16GB model can hold approx. 4000 songs, 14000 pictures, or 16 hours of video material.

It is also claimed to be the most enviromentally friendly iPod Apple has ever made, containing arsenic-free glass and a BFR-, mercury-, and PVC-free design, making the Pink iPod Nano highly recyclable.
